Then we make the circle stop at exactly the point of collision. This is done by multiplying the overlap with v0 s dx and dy values, and then subtracting them from the circle s current position. Figure 3-5 shows how this is found for the x axis (the method is the same for the y axis). _c1.setX = _c1.xPos - (overlap * v0.dx); _c1.setY = _c1.yPos - (overlap * v0.dy); Because the collision is being modeled before _c1 s view is updated, we never see any overlap when the circles collide. We see only this new, correct point of contact between them. This very clean collision detection is thanks to our use of the MVC framework, and because we re updating the models before we check for a collision.

To configure a custom authorization provider through the Enterprise Library Configuration Console, you need to first copy the assembly to the bin folder of the Enterprise Library project. After you ve copied the assembly, follow these steps to configure the new provider: 1. Right-click the Authorization node of the Security Application Block and choose New Custom Authorization Provider. 2. Click the ellipsis next to the Type property. This will bring up the Type Selector dialog box, as shown in Figure 11-5. Click the name of the provider, and then choose OK.

Imagine that the circle is hitting a wall created by v0 s normal. (Take a quick look back at 2 if you need a refresher on vector normals.) All we need to do is bounce _c1 s motion vector against this imaginary wall. It s the same solution to the problem of bouncing the particle against the line in the previous chapter. The only difference is that we can t see the line that the circle is bouncing against. It just exists mathematically. Figure 3-6 shows what this imaginary wall created by v0 s normal would look like if it were visible.

An advanced implementation is beyond the scope of this book and depends on the context of the problem The StateManager interface is important in the overall architecture because it is meant to be shared by servlets and external processes A servlet could be used to manage and accumulate the state, whereas a J2EE server could be used to execute the transaction on the accumulated state The idea is to implement the State filter and let the architecture manage the state The StateManager interface is defined as follows: public interface StateManager { public State getEmptyState( String url, String windowName); public State copyState( String stateIdentifier, String url, String windowName); public State[] getStateWindowName( String windowName); }.

You can use this trick any time you need to bounce an object at any angle. Just create a vector, at whatever inclination you need, and bounce the object s motion vector against it. The vector doesn t even need coordinates on the stage any vx and vy values will do the trick. It works like a charm!
